New year, new website
Hello and welcome to wegoholoholo.com! My name is Dillon and I live on Oahu island in Hawaii.
What is holoholo?
In Hawaii, “holoholo” (pronounced like the ho in hotel, and the lo in Lowe’s) is a local island slang word that has grown to take on different meanings, such outdoor activities, like water sports or hiking trails.
Many old-timer fisherman believed that merely saying the words “we go fishing” would scare the fish and they would swim away and hide. Of course, this would cause an unproductive day of fishing; thus, by saying “we go holoholo”, fish wouldn’t know what they were talking about!
Nowadays we use the term to describe activities done for fun, outside the realm of our regular and boring 9-5 day job. This is the lifestyle I want to put forth on wegoholoholo.com.
